His stone training started with shaping of small Circle Lazy Susans and cutting outlets in stone Backsplashes. He then graduated to polishing and shaping edgework and sinks.
At around 18 years old, Erik signed on to a big production shop. There he saw and learnt all about custom work and repairs - from gluing together broken Onyx tops to manufacturing, large custom bars in the area (such as Houligans and TGI Fridays).

His skills, were refined, by two of the best fabricators in the Trade. They were craftsmen well respected in the Stone Trade. Perfectionists. He acquired the knowledge of using acids to polish stones - such as, Marble and Onyx etc. The differences and specific applications of various glues and adhesives.

Around the age of 22 years old he had his first child and wanted to learn more, so he branched out, to help build up another manufacture shop from the ground up. He wanted to learn the ins and outs of the whole workings of a Granite shop. For about 5 years he helped manage and facilitate the production of a growing Granite shop. Whilst doing so, he also handled all service repair work and custom jobs such as intricate quartzite and marble fireplaces. He hand ground integrated Granite and Quartz sinks. Once he felt a wall, was hit, in his learning cycle and he had plateaued out, he decided to move on, to managing a shop for another company. There He managed a shop that produced around 20 kitchens a week along with bathrooms and more custom work, such as, large elaborate meeting tables and porcelain kitchens. There were many large jobs that were contracted from hotels in the Bahamas, Las Vegas and Cancun.

At the age of 36 he met Avril Drake and she recognized his talent and love for the trade. She offered to give him a chance by financing and starting a company where he could become a partner. She offered to mentor him in marketing and business management, so they could together build something fairly new to the area.
